Automotive Lane-Keep Assist — Systems Requirement
An automotive requirement that asks the engineer to minimize, maximize, and optimize — without naming a single number.
The document
## SYS-LKA-12 — Lane-Keep Assist Behavior
The Lane-Keep Assist (LKA) function shall minimize lateral deviation from the detected lane center while maximizing driver comfort and minimizing torque interventions during normal driving. The control law shall optimize the trade-off between tracking accuracy and ride smoothness.
When lane markings degrade, the function shall continue to operate gracefully and shall hand control back to the driver in a timely manner if continued operation is no longer reasonable. The system should perform well under typical highway conditions and shall be robust against shadows, construction zones, etc.
Diagnostic coverage shall be adequate to detect sensor degradation, and the function shall respond appropriately to any reported faults.
